We only rent PHV cars to licensed drivers with certain badges, and you’ll need to live within around 50 miles of Manchester/Salford. #PHV #Manchester #TaxiDriver
If you’re trying to work out whether your badge is accepted for a rental with us, this guide lays it out clearly. It also explains the common confusion between your badge council, where you work, and where you live.
At a glance
- PHV drivers only: we rent to licensed private hire taxi drivers (not private motorists).
- Accepted badge councils: Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester.
- Where you live matters: you must live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford.
- App work: our cars are suitable for Uber and Bolt.
- What we’ll ask for first: your badge council and your home postcode.
What we do and who this suits
We provide rental vehicles that fit typical private hire work around Greater Manchester. Most drivers we help are already on the road and need a straightforward rental option that suits day-to-day PHV jobs (including Uber and Bolt work).
If you’re newly licensed, returning after a break, or switching cars because yours is off the road, we can also help as long as you meet the eligibility rules below.
Accepted badges (and the common confusion)
We accept badges from these councils: Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, and Manchester.
One thing that catches drivers out is the difference between:
- Your badge council: who issued your PHV licence/badge.
- Where you work: you can work in Manchester even if your badge is from one of the accepted councils above.
- Where you live: we only rent to drivers who live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford.
If you live more than 50 miles away, we won’t be able to offer a rental.
What sort of cars we rent out
We rent practical PHV saloons that drivers tend to prefer for app work and city driving. Examples of vehicles we may provide include:
- Toyota Prius
- Skoda Octavia
- Kia Ceed
- Similar PHV-suitable saloons
Specific models can vary, so it’s best to ask what’s available when you contact us.
What to have ready before you get in touch
To avoid back-and-forth and wasted time, have these ready:
- Your badge council (Wolverhampton / Sefton / Trafford / Knowsley / Manchester)
- Your home postcode (so we can check the 50-mile radius requirement)
- A quick note of the platform you plan to use (e.g. Uber, Bolt, or both)
- Your preferred car type (e.g. saloon / hybrid / auto), if you have one
Next steps
The fastest way to check eligibility is to send us your badge council and home postcode. If everything lines up, we’ll talk you through the next steps and what vehicles are currently available.

Your badge council and your home postcode to confirm you’re within range.
What cars do you usually have?
Common examples are Toyota Prius, Skoda Octavia, and Kia Ceed (or similar PHV saloons). Availability can change, so ask us what’s currently on offer.
