Comparing PHV car rental in Manchester? We’ll help you check the basics quickly, without wasting time. #PHV #Manchester #TaxiDriver
If you’re trying to find a “cheap” deal, it’s easy to get caught out by unclear terms or cars that aren’t suitable for private hire work. We’re Join Veritas Hire, based around Manchester/Salford, and we rent cars to licensed PHV drivers who live locally.
This page is mainly about how to compare options safely — and how to check if you’re eligible with us.
At a glance
- PHV drivers only (we don’t rent to the general public)
- Accepted badge councils: Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester
- You must live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford
- Cars suitable for Uber and Bolt
- To check eligibility we’ll ask for your badge council and your home postcode
What we do (and who it suits)
We provide PHV rental cars for working drivers doing day shifts, nights, or a mix — including city work around Manchester and Greater Manchester. If you need a straightforward car that’s sensible to run and comfortable for passengers, that’s the kind of work our vehicles are aimed at.
Drivers often come to us when they want to avoid messing about with listings that don’t mention licensing, suitability for app work, or who the rental is actually for.
How to compare “cheap” PHV rentals safely
If you’re lining up a few options in Manchester, don’t just compare the weekly figure. A low headline number can still cost you time and money if the details aren’t clear.
- Check it’s for licensed PHV work — some rentals are standard self-drive only.
- Ask what documents they need — a legit PHV rental will want to see your badge/licence details.
- Make sure the car suits your job — for Uber/Bolt city miles, most drivers prefer an automatic and something economical.
- Get the key terms in writing before you travel across town (what’s included, what’s expected, and what happens if something changes).
- Be wary of vague wording like “from” prices with no explanation, or ads that won’t confirm basics until you’ve paid anything.
Eligibility rules (badge + local living)
We only rent to licensed private hire drivers with badges from Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester.
One common bit of confusion: your badge council isn’t the same as where you work. You can still do work in Manchester even if your badge is from Trafford, Sefton, Knowsley, or Wolverhampton — that’s normal for a lot of drivers.
The other key point is where you live: we rent to drivers who live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford. If you live further away than that, we won’t be able to offer a rental.
Vehicles you can expect (examples)
We use sensible PHV saloons that suit app work. Examples of vehicles we may provide include:
- Toyota Prius
- Skoda Octavia
- Kia Ceed
- Other similar PHV saloons
If you’ve got a preference (for example, hybrid/automatic for city driving), tell us when you get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s realistic at the time.
What to have ready (so we can say yes/no quickly)
- Your badge council (Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester)
- Your home postcode (to confirm the 50-mile rule)
- A quick note on how you work: Uber/Bolt, days/nights, airport runs, etc.
- Any must-haves (automatic, hybrid, larger boot, etc.)
Next steps
Send us your badge council and home postcode first — that’s the fastest way for us to confirm eligibility. If you’re good to go, we’ll talk through what you need and what cars are around at the time.
FAQs
Can I work Manchester with a Trafford/Sefton/Knowsley/Wolverhampton badge?
Yes — plenty of drivers do. What matters to us is that your badge is from one of the accepted councils, and you live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford.
What if I live more than 50 miles away?
We only rent to drivers living within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford, so we wouldn’t be able to offer a rental.
Do you provide Uber/Bolt accounts or driving work?
No. We provide the rental vehicle for eligible PHV drivers, but we don’t supply app accounts or work.
What do you need from me to check eligibility?
Your badge council and your home postcode. That’s usually enough for a quick yes/no on eligibility.
What cars do you usually have?
Typically practical PHV saloons such as a Toyota Prius, Skoda Octavia, Kia Ceed, or similar. Availability can vary.
