Have your badge council and home postcode to hand first — it’s the quickest way for us to confirm you’re eligible. #PHV #Manchester #TaxiDriver

If you’re a working PHV driver, a bit of prep saves a lot of back-and-forth. This guide covers what we’ll ask for, why we ask, and what to bring so you don’t waste a trip.

We’re Manchester/Salford-based and we only rent to licensed private hire drivers who meet a couple of clear checks.

At a glance

  • PHV drivers only (we don’t rent to non-licensed drivers).
  • Accepted badge councils: Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester.
  • You must live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford to rent from us.
  • Cars are suitable for Uber and Bolt (subject to your own platform requirements).
  • We’ll ask for: your badge council + your home postcode (and a couple of basics listed below).

What we do (and who it’s for)

Join Veritas Hire rents PHV cars to drivers doing private hire work in and around Greater Manchester. Most people we help are already on the road and just need a reliable saloon that fits day-to-day private hire driving.

If you’re planning to work Uber or Bolt in Manchester, Salford, Trafford and nearby areas, our cars are the kind commonly used for that sort of work.

Quick eligibility check (badge vs where you work vs where you live)

This is where most confusion comes from, so here’s the straight version:

  • Badge council: you must be licensed by Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester.
  • Where you work: you can work in Manchester even if your badge is from one of the accepted councils above.
  • Where you live: you need to live within about 50 miles of Manchester/Salford.

If you live more than 50 miles away, we won’t be able to offer a rental.

Vehicles you’ll usually see (examples)

We supply practical PHV saloons similar to:

  • Toyota Prius
  • Skoda Octavia
  • Kia Ceed
  • Other similar private hire-friendly saloons

Specific models vary — we’ll talk through what’s available when you enquire.

What to have ready (so you don’t waste time)

  • Your badge council (Wolverhampton, Sefton, Trafford, Knowsley, or Manchester) and confirmation you’re currently licensed.
  • Your home postcode (this is how we quickly check the ~50-mile rule).
  • Your contact details (name and a mobile number).
  • Platform plans (e.g., Uber/Bolt) so we can sanity-check the type of car you need (saloon, boot space, etc.).

Next steps

Message or call us with your badge council and home postcode. We’ll confirm whether you’re eligible and talk you through what to do next.
